About / FAQs

Super Fats was started in January of 2011 after Anna, Nicole and Kath had all expressed interest in making a fat acceptance podcast comprised of death fatties, ie super fats.

FAQs (written by Anna):
What is a ‘super fat’ / ‘death fat’?
Death fat is a term that has been floating around the fatosphere for a while. It pokes fun at the term ‘morbid obesity’ and generally refers to people who weigh over 300lbs and/or a BMI of 40 or more. Super fat is term that Kath originated — for more information on how we came to this name, listen to our first podcast.

Why is your podcast primarily about death fats?
Well, all three of us are death fats. I don’t think any of us would feel comfortable speaking for another group and I (Anna) think that the world can be a very lonely place for death fats. We are often excluded, even from plus-size clothing stores, and tacked on as an exception– ‘it’s okay to be fat… as long as you’re not, you know, really really fat!’. Death fatties have a unique perspective that deserves to be heard.
